In-home maternity sessions are my favourite type of session to shoot. Being in your own space and without an audience feels so much more comfortable and really lends itself to creating more intimate, raw images. I like to utilize moody window light and play with shadows and I especially love to photograph the absolute magic that our bodies are capable of during pregnancy. That being said, this session actually took place in a beautiful little hair salon in Banff, Alberta (check out En Vogue for a fresh ‘do if you’re out that way). My client suggested the large windows at his workplace would provide nice lighting. He was not wrong so we pulled together some pillows and blankets to add in some cozy vibes and away we went. It was a dream to work with these four and I cannot think of a better way to kick off a New Year of documenting life.
